One can get to Chernivtsi by plane, train, car or bus. Railway communication is performed from the railway station of Chernivtsi, which is located on 38, Gagarin Street. At the railway station there are ticket offices, waiting rooms and luggage offices, water closets, first-aid post, hairdresser, hotel, restaurant, currency exchange, post office, telegraph, public phones with international connection,  and providers of Internet services.

Railway network links the city with Western Europe through Lviv. Trains from Moscow and Kyiv run from the northern direction and trains from Odessa – from the south one. Also, there is a direct train connection of Chernivtsi with the cities of Ivano-Frankivs’k, Uzhgorod, Kharkiv, Kovel’, Oknytsya and in summer - with the city of Sofia (Bulgaria). For tourists from Eastern, Southern and central regions of Ukraine it is better to plan trips through Kamyanets’ Podilsky, which has direct railway connection with the majority of regional centres, and then to make a transfer by motor transport. This is especially true regarding to trips to such tourist regions of Bukovyna as Khotyn Fortress and Podnistrovya.

Air Communication

International airport is functioning in the city of Chernivtsi. It serves regular flights Chernivtsi – Kyiv – Chernivtsi, Chernivtsi – Timisoara (Romania) – Chernivtsi, and fulfills chartered flights to the cities of Italy (Milano, Naples, and Bergamo) and to Antalya (Turkey).

International Airport of Chernivtsi is located on 30, Chkalov Street. Regular air communications with Kyiv and Timisoara (Romania) as well as seasonal flights to other cities of Ukraine and abroad are performed from here. There are ticket offices, waiting rooms, water closets, a hotel and a restaurant at the airport. Bus route number 38 connects the airport with the city centre. Roads Communication

Dense network of roads, in particular highways M-19, M-20, and P-04, connects the city of Chernivtsi with all districts of the region and regions of Ukraine. Highways E-50 and E-85 connect the city with central and Southern Europe.

Please remember that traffic in Ukraine is right-hand. Speed ​​limit is 60 km/hr. in settlements, 90 km/ hr. outside settlements, and 130 km/hr on highways. Permissible blood alcohol content level is 0.0%. Prices for diesel oil and 95-98 petrol vary within $ 1.2 per litre of fuel at filling stations of Ukraine.

One can take a fixed-route bus for out-of-town travels within Chernivtsi region. Buses depart from the central bus station or from suburban bus stations number 2 and 3.

Trolleybuses, buses and taxis transport passengers around the city of Chernivtsi. The network consists of 41 bus and 10 trolleybus routes. Journey in a trolleybus costs UAH 1, which shall be paid to the conductor, and in a bus – up to UAH 2, which shall be passed to the driver.

Besides, about 20 agencies of radio taxi provide services of passengers’ transportation. Journey around the city costs UAH 15-25 and trip outside the city – within UAH 5 for 1 km.
