1. Old city. The historic centre of city
was built from the middle of the XIX century to early XX
century. The pedestrian route presumes visiting of the
three places - the Central Place, the Cathedral Place
and the Theater Place. During the tour the tourists will
see nuclei of city construction, which were formed under
the influence of European historicism, walk along the
streets named after O. Kobylianska, I. Franko, M.
Eminesku and other, which have preserved their
architectural ensemble. The tour enables to get an idea
of how the former capital of the land was developing, of
architectural style and city environment of the previous

monuments, such as: the City Hall, the German, Polish,

2. The architectural ensemble of the Residence of
Bukovyna's Archbishops. Visiting the monument of
national significance built in the second half of the
XIX century according to the design of the Austrian
architect Yosyp Hlavka. The guests will have an
opportunity to see the seminary building, the Church of
the Three Prelates, the palace and the park of the
archbishop, they will see the Marble Hall, renovated
after the fire of 1944, see authentic wall-paintings by
E. Maksymovych and E. Buchevskyy, listen to the sounds
of the chiming clock on the Tower of Psalm-Reader School.
Visiting the former residence is the moments of harmony
of the spirit and the heart, touching the eternal
everlasting beauty.
3. Churches and temples of Chernivtsi. Religious
tolerance proclaimed during the Austro-
Hungarian Rule is embodied in big and small temples of
world religions. This is a living contemporaneity of
Chernivtsi residents. Tourists will see the Holy Spirit
Orthodox Cathedral, Saint Paraskeva Orthodox Church,
Dormition of Virgin Mary Greek-Catholic Church,
Exaltation of the Cross Roman-Catholic Church, Grosshyl
synagogue, former St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Armenian
Church, a number of smaller icon shelves hiding in the
elegant streets of the city. Slim spires, cupolas and
towers create a unique silhouette of the city located on
the upper terraces of the right bank of the river Prut.
4. City Necropolis. The guests will see the
historic and cultural sanctuary of Orthodox and Judaic
Cemeteries, located on top of Mount Horecha in the
uptown of Chernivtsi. During a hundred and half years of
their existence they turned into a fabulous historic
monument of the city - cemeteries, where famous figures
of the land are buried: politicians, artists, writers,
successful businessmen, church hierarchs, honored
citizens and heroes of World Wars of the XX century.
Artistic tombstones produce a great impression on the
visitors and they witness of the artistic taste of the
citizens of the part era. The paths to the graves of the
poet Yu. Fedkovych, the writer O. Kobylianska, the
fable-writer E. Shteinberg, the composer S. Vorobkevych,
and also to the icon shelf of Bukovyna's archbishops and
the head rabbi L. Ihel, the graves of the prelate I.
Shmidt, doctor V. Zalozetskyy, educationist A. Pumnul
never cover with grass. The tombstones of the governors
A. Kokhanovskyy and E. Reiss always attract the
attention of the visitors. The memorials to killed
soldiers of World War I and World War II and also the
Nazi victims are always decorated with flowers.
The tour includes the visiting of the Jewish cemetery in
Sadhora, where the tomb of Hassid tsadyk Israel Fridman
is located.
5. Jewish Chernivtsi, The tour shows the city

Jewish house on Theater Place, the building of the old
